Who Will Replace Julien as the Full-Time Head Coach of the Bruins?

You had a good run however, I guess it had to end. After nine and a half years of service, Claude Julien has been fired as head coach of the Boston Bruins and rumors are starting to swirl as to who can replace the Stanley Cup-winning coach.
It is clear the Bruins’ direction was not pleased with the direction the team was heading in, with just 58 points after 55 games, but what’s not very clear is exactly what they expected. Almost everybody predicted the B’s would be a team on the outside looking in and it appeared all but certain Julien will be relieved of his post at the finish of the season. The impatience of the new NHL, however, reared its ugly head once more and one of the best coaches in the league is now searching for work — that I’m sure he will find in short order. The timing could not have been better for the Bruins since it was unlikely they would confront much backlash from the general public and the press together with the Patriots observing their recent Super Bowl win with a parade in downtown Boston at the exact same time the Bruins declared the shooting.
BetOnline has put lines who will become the next full-time coach of the Original Six team from Massachusetts and there are a number of recognizable names near the top of the listing. With former Panthers bench boss Gerard Gallant coming in at +200 and the very recently fired Ken Hitchcock being offered in +400.
Assistant coach Bruce Cassidy will take over head coaching duties in the interim and he’s the current favorite to take over the fulltime occupation with +160 chances. Before he was promoted to the big club at the start of the 2016-17 year, Cassidy served as the head coach of the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence for five years. It’s very likely that Bruins’ management has been dressing the Ottawa, Ontario native for the big job so it makes a great deal of feel he’s the favorite.
With groups like the Penguins, Blues, Panthers and the Islanders all using this method with their current fulltime head coach hirings, I could see the Bruins doing exactly the identical thing. I’m not sure what it requires to maintain a job as a head coach in the NHL anymore but if Claude Julien does not have it, nobody will.
Here’s the entire list of potential full-time head coaches to the Bruins offered at BetOnline:
