Who Will Replace Julien as the Full-Time Head Coach of the Bruins?

Well, you had a fantastic run however, I suppose it had to end. After nine and a half years of service, Claude Julien was fired as head coach of the Boston Bruins and rumors are beginning to swirl as to who will replace the Stanley Cup-winning coach.
It’s clear the Bruins’ management wasn’t delighted with the direction the club was heading in, with only 58 points after 55 games, but what’s not very clear is exactly what they expected. Virtually everyone predicted that the B’s are a team to the outside looking in and it seemed all but certain Julien would be relieved of his post at the conclusion of the season. The impatience of the new NHL, however, reared its ugly head once again and among the best coaches in the league is currently searching for work — which I’m sure he’ll see in short order. The timing could not have been better for the Bruins since it was unlikely they’d face much backlash from the public and the press together with the Patriots celebrating their most recent Super Bowl win having a parade in downtown Boston at precisely the exact same time the Bruins declared the firing.
BetOnline has put lines on who will end up the next full-time coach of the Original Six team from Massachusetts and there are a number of recognizable names close to the top of the list. With former Panthers seat boss Gerard Gallant coming in at +200 and the very recently fired Ken Hitchcock being available in +400.
Assistant coach Bruce Cassidy will take over head coaching duties in the meantime and he’s the current favorite to take over the fulltime job with +160 odds. Before he had been promoted to the club at the start of the 2016-17 season, Cassidy served as the head coach of the Bruins’ AHL affiliate in Providence for five years. It is very likely the Bruins’ direction has been grooming the Ottawa, Ontario native for the big job so it makes a great deal of feel that he’s the favorite.
With teams like the Penguins, Blues, Panthers and the Islanders all employing this method using their current full-time head coach hirings, I really could see the Bruins doing the same thing. I’m not sure what it requires to maintain a job as a head coach in the NHL anymore but if Claude Julien does not have it, nobody will.
Here is the entire list of potential full-time head coaches to the Bruins offered at BetOnline:
