My latest and most read comment on Espionner is « Le Secret de Quelqu’un a Distance ». It’s a short piece that I wrote to commemorate the launch of Apple’s new product, the iPhone. The term ‘le Secret’ is a reference to one of Quelquen’s songs ‘Secret Society’ and it translate in French as ‘The Secret’. The song is about how the secret society members carry secret information about the world and how they maintain their privacy. They do so using SMS (text messaging) and this form of communication is now being used by young people to communicate non-stop.
So I decided to write a comment for a product that had been launched in the market and which was taking up all the media coverage. My comment was on a Tweet by Quelquefloquo, a rather well known French entrepreneur who had also Tweeted about the product. He had used the term ‘le secret’ in his Tweet and I felt that I should use it in my comment on Espionner. I also added a reference to ‘the secret society’ in my comment on Twitter and as it turned out the Tweet received very few replies but it was still interesting to me to read what people were thinking about my comment and the product in general.
It also gave me an idea for future articles I would like to write and hence I am now using the term ‘le Secret de Quelqu’ for all my articles. I must say that at the time of writing this article, Espionner’s Leisure Time has just come out and they seem to have gone down well with the younger French crowd. So maybe I should call them ‘le Secret’. Perhaps you will consider this in 2021.
