I love the console, but it has so many pieces that can break which makes me extra nervous. All of my Wii and Wii U games are done, so I’m down to my last 16 Virtual Console games and ten of them are RPGs so I have a good deal of gaming with it ahead. I still hope it lives beyond that especially as long as Xenoblade X hasn’t been ported. I’m currently replaying the Metroid Prime trilogy on the console and having an awesome time. I’ve personally installed RetroArch on a Linux box and was impressed with its versatility and interface . It will automatically add games to your collection, display cover art, detect a wide range of controllers and even supports online play.

But, as I do not want to make any external modifications to the Game Boy, I’m going to use the DC jack to charge my battery. What I want to do is take this 6V and plug it into my battery charger, which will produce the proper voltage/current setpoints Scary Games for the LiPo battery. Adafruit sells a pretty easy-to-use battery charging board, and I figured this was easier/cheaper than making my own board after pricing out the individual parts plus the PCB.
So clearly some things weren’t random…but some things are. The issue has not yet been fully investigated on hardware, but research is ongoing and will hopefully yield a further understanding as it continues. Until then, well, you’re resigned to using less accurate emulators for this specific game.
Everything is ready out of the box, no mapping of keys, no installing firmware. It’s incredible and we love playing our rare PS1 games on it with no frame rate drops. What’s even better is that this console comes preloaded out of the box with thousands of games, and has Emulation Station already installed so you don’t have to setup anything. It feels like a Nintendo Switch Lite, but has the power to hold thousands upon thousands of your retro games in a clean UI with a big screen, good battery life and a well designed shell. The handheld is so powerful it can emulate the best Dreamcast games and the best PSP games very well, making it the next step in affordable retro handheld emulation.
The GBA screen is slightly larger then the DS screen , since GBA games play in a windowed mode on a DS. If you are having issues playing select Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance games on your NES Classic Mini, follow our troubleshooting guide. Common issues includes slow gameplay, graphical glitches, no music or bad music, or selecting a game and it boots to a black screen or doesn’t load and goes back to the game selection menu. To resolve, you will need to try different cores and assigning them to the specific game you are having issues with. To complicate matters, the Game Boy Advance and GBA SP have special physical switches that toggle Game Boy Color mode. Anytime a Game Boy or Game Boy Color cart is in a GBA or GBA SP, it should flip a switch to turn on GBC mode.
Many clone systems were released after the original Nintendo system was released. Some of the clone systems were the Yobo, GEN-Nex, FC Twin, and others. Just like the old times, you still need to have the games necessary for GBA. This time, you don’t need to blow the hell out of your cartridges because it comes in a zip file. I would recommend My Boy GBA Emulator – it’s not free but it is probably the best out there yet.
