I don’t recommend that you even try to get this far because if you put the mud on the wall, no contractor will touch it. We will not sand another person’s crazy looking mud job.

To trim the paper, align your long straightedge with the selvage edge. Using your rotary cutter, follow the length of your straightedge and trim off the selvage edge on one side. If you lined up the paper correctly when folding it, the edge should trim straight. Note that the final strip to be hung in the room will need to be trimmed of both selvage edges.
You can see in the photo above that the last inch or so of the wallpaper wrapped around the corner of the room. This ensures that the next strip could line up neatly next to it. After letting the booking process work its magic for a few minutes, I then took my first strip of paper into the half bath.
Apply the adhesive with a short-napped roller, working from the center of the strip to the edges. Or, use a pasting brush, working in a figure-eight pattern. Cover the paper completely, thinly, and smoothly, especially at the edges.
In addition, try to plan seams so they fall near the center of windows and doors. Use the utility knife to trim excess paper from the top and bottom of the wall. Run the seam roller over the top and bottom edges to ensure tight adhesion after trimming. Using the ladder, apply the free wallpapers wallpaper by unrolling it slowly and pressing into place with the sponge.
A vacuum with a soft bristle attachment can be used on wallpaper to remove dust and loose dirt, but it will take a different approach to getting stains out. There is a product called “wallpaper dough” that can be rolled across stains to lift them without damaging the wallpaper. Obviously, vinyl wallpaper is going to be easier to clean than flock or wallpaper with a significant amount of texture. In the end, it all comes down to how much traffic you get and your ability to maintain the paper as needed. It is also easier to install than other types of wallpaper, and with most brands, you don’t need to use wallpaper paste. If it’s on the vinyl covered walls or the cabinetry you should be able to paint right over the stenciled areas.
